NextStage Ad Placement Tool The Ad Placement tool calculates which of five IAB standard placements (Medium Rectangle, Rectangle, Leaderboard, Wide Sky and Sky) needs to be used in order to maximize branding and direct response. That's it.
Problem Being Solved: Where Should an Ad be Placed on a WebPage for Maximum Response?
NextStage Ad Placement Tool currently understands five ad placements or interactive marketing units (IMUs) as defined by the IAB. Four of these IMUs are bolded on the IAB's Interactive Marketing Units page (Medium Rectangle, Rectangle, Leaderboard and Wide Sky). The fifth IMU, Sky, was included based on discussions with beta users during development. More IMUs can be added based on interest.
Use: The tool's use is simple; There are twenty questions about the target audience for the ad. Answer the questions to the best of your ability, click on "Calculate Ad Placements" and learn where you should place an ad on a given webpage in order for maximum response over time. The "over time" part is important. This is not a "direct response" tool although it should accurately predict response in the site visitor's neuron-cognitive concept of time (NextStage speak for "they might not click the moment they see it and they will act on it eventually").
Note that the tool doesn't care if you're placing an ad on- or off-line. All it cares about is where something needs to be in the target audience's visual field in order to get a positive, long term response.
Results: The Results are 1) results for different ad placements, 2) how many people in the audience you described on the input form will be branded by the ad, 3) how many people will be motivated to act upon the ad and 4) how your selections influenced the results.
